During the time needed to create a children's dream, Brest youth hostel became international.
In a room, around some big maps spread out on the tables, Roberta, Daisy, Jesus, Diane and Mathew are engrossed in a discussion. American, German, English, Italian, Spanish, Irish, French or Rumanian, they are aged from 9 to 12 and speak the same language. The language of the ideal garden.
Out come the words flower, path, perfume, waterfall, insect.

The fact of living in cities with populations between 130, 000 and 2 million doesn't stop them from being imaginative about landscape gardening: a rainbow valley, a garden of reflections and delights, a joyful hill or a sunset island. So many pretty names that they found for the corners of their dream.

Seeds of imagination that they hope soon to see start growing in their own cities.

Article quoted from the magazine SILLAGE

The children, distributed into 9 groups, combined the best ideas from their colleagues,
and improved them by adding new inventions, then tried to arrange them in a garden.

Tarente: the garden of knowledge

Our garden is situated on a plain
There are lots of fruit trees that use solar power (the sun cabin) and they reproduce by means of the wind (wind driven wheel).
You can learn (prehistoric garden)
You can enjoy yourself ( amusement garden).
You can make things (workshop zone).
You can try to find the right way (labyrinth).
Finally, water is present:
The waterfall garden and the tentacle island remind us of the sea near our home.
Our choice:
The sun cabin (Constanta), the prehistoric garden (Brest Penfeld), the workshop zone (Tarento), the labyrinth,
the wind garden (Kiel), the plains (Denver), the garden of knowledge and enjoyment (Tarento), the garden full of fruits (Tarento), tentacle island (Brest Kerbonne), the waterfall garden (Dun Laoghaire).
Denver: the garden of the World's children

We chose the secret garden because it could shelter plant and animal species in danger of becoming extinct.
The tropical garden, with its palm trees, its plants, its warm water and its birds.
Places to watch and listen to the birds,
The trampoline hills to jump over them and roll down them.
...

Our choice:
Windmills (Plymouth), the secret garden (Dun Laoghaire), the lake of dreams (Cadiz), the garden of the sun and its pool (Tarento), the tropical garden ( ), the river, the stepping stone ford (Plymouth), the labyrinth, the play and pleasure zone (Kiel), trampoline hills (Brest Kerbonne).
Plymouth: the 11 islands of pleasure and calm

We chose these different elements so that the garden would be suitable for everyone's needs and wishes:
little calm corners, activity sectors (toboggan, waterfalls, tree houses etc.)

We also included elements for the senses:

smell (herbs and flowers),
sight (hide for bird watching),
hearing (garden of singing insects),
taste (fruit and vegetable garden).
Water is a very important factor for us as English people because we live on an island, which explains the name of our garden.

Our choice:
Mountains (Denver), the blue waterfall garden (Constanza) ?, the island of strange plants (Brest Kerbonne), the bird watching hides (Brest et Plymouth), the gourmet's garden, the salt marshes (Cadiz), the vegetable garden where the insects sing (Saponé), the schoolchildren's pine wood (Cadix), the tree house.
Dun Laoghaire: the stream of delights
