  All these children have a common history, but different ways to live and tell it through the gardens, nature, dreams, and their games. 
The site -available in 5 languages- and the immediate translation of the works will provide a better understanding of the languages and cultures. 
However, it is advisable for the 11 towns to work on the same basis, thus ensuring both scientific and imaginative processes, as well as to work on the form of the works. 

 

september The networking of the partners 
Contributors : The names and addresses, E-mail and website addresses of the contributors from the 11 towns, that is approximately 50 people coming from associative or university backgrounds.
Schools : The names and addresses, E-mail and website addresses once available : 11 schools, 350 children approximately. 

The teams are made up within each of the 11 towns, one person per team is in charge of the co-ordination of the scheme and of the contacts with Brest.

1st cyber meeting 
The structures present their activities, the teachers and contributors ; the children of the 11 towns introduce themselves and precise their approach towards the project.

The follow-up of the 11 towns' achievements 
From November onwards, a regular presentation of the children's achievements with a translation into 5 languages.
Phase 1: The children draw their favourite memories of nature: A4 paper.

Phase 2: Each child draws his/her personal vegetal environment, something very simple : a very pleasant memory of nature, a wish for special smells, sounds, forms, colours…

Phase 3:The contributors adapt each child's drawing to the real world by suggesting the names of species available in his/her region.
Ex : twisted trees : larch, pine trees, oaks, etc…
Ex : a red forest and red animals : robin… 

Phase 4: The children choose some of these elements (around 5 or 6), gather information, and draw these elements. Each child has his/her own imaginary space. He/she names it -for example : the hill with twisted trees- and knows the name of the elements composing it. 
These elements are grouped together on a black and white/or colour plate and drawn on a A4 paper. The name of the elements is also mentioned in Latin in order to make the future translations easier.

Phase 5: Each child cuts out the outline of these elements according to a scale selected by the class.These elements are painted on both sides. 

Phase 6: The children mention the name of their own space on a piece of paper. All these pieces of paper are placed on a large table. 
The children then play at gathering all those spaces to build up a collective garden. The development of the garden gives rise to the exploitation of the educational knowledge delivered by the contributors. For example : small rivers gather to make only one, but where will it flow ? where to build bridges ?

Phase 7: Realisation of the model. 

All along the scheme, the children from the USA, Africa, Asia and Europe will feed the site with their expanding knowledge and artistic productions.
The children will gradually contribute to the construction of the site by sending documents in the rough by E-mail to Brest, or they will edit their own webpages, thus laying out their pages, and using word and image processing by themselves.

 

april 2001 2nd cyber meeting
The children of each class meet up with their contributors and consult the works achieved by the 10 towns. Together, they list their favourite elements among the 11 imaginary gardens. It is a friendly way to end the scheme in the perspective of the exhibition and meeting in Brest  -for some of them. 

@ This list, beginning the drawing / map of the garden of twinning that they will compose altogether, will have to be sent by E-mail and will be part of the exhibition pieces.

june 2001 The exhibition 
The exhibition will be a landmark in bringing closer the different cultures.
On this occasion, the children, contributors and the audience in Brest will gather to take part in workshops, forums, lectures and celebrations.
Helped by the translators who will have followed the project, and by the lists elaborated in April, both the children and contributors will compose the garden of twinning and will write its story.
The children will therefore share their experiences and describe the individuality of their region.
